Cool Light Switch Only One Black Wire
The whites neutrals should be connected together.
Light switch only one black wire. As you can see from the diagram the white wire is used it completes the circuit back to the electrical supply s neutral line. The light will either turn on or it won t. Connect either of the other two black wires to the other screw on the switch.
One where the light fixture is between the supply and the switch. There are two ways to wire a two way switch with 2 core cable like you have. If the light turns on the second black wire you connected to the switch is the switch feed and the unconnected black wire is the feed to the other loads.
I would check that the load wire probably black is securely connected to the screw labeled load. One where the switch is between the supply and the light fixture s. The connected wire feeds the other loads and the disconnected wire is the light feed.
The correct configuration should be black power in to switch black power to light to other side of switch. The green screw on the switch is it to ground the switch. One is the power coming into the box the other black is power going to the light.
Yes this is normal. You should actually be connecting two black wires to the switch. I think this is what you mean by a standard black white setup.
This is how your switches are wired. If the light doesn t turn on then it s the other way around. Turn the power back on and turn the switch on.
