Beautiful Work Single Pole Light Switch 2 Black Wires 1 Red Wire
You wire a double pole switch in essentially the same way as a single pole one but it s important to remember to keep the red wires on one side of the switch and the black wires on the other.
Single pole light switch 2 black wires 1 red wire. I would check that the load wire probably black is securely connected to the screw labeled load. I ve had quite a time trying to connect this switch to no avail. Place the prong of the multimeter s red wire on the bare metal on the end of one of the black wires.
Bend the end into a loop using the wire strippers or needle. This switch and another switch can either be activated to turn on the light they are connected to. Connect the black wire to the other brass screw.
Inspect the end of each wire. So usually a standard single pole dumb switch has two blacks. Then strip about 3 4 inch of insulation using wire strippers.
Break gold tab to isolate top from bottom as told the silver neutral is just passing through. Just remember label outlet. The positive wire on a multimeter is red and the black wire is negative.
Wire the new single pole switch. Connect either of the other two black wires to the other screw on the switch. On single pole switch its near impossible to screw that up.
Don t get confused about using the red wire from the multimeter to test a hot black wire. Turn the power back on and turn the switch on. The light will either turn on or it won t.
