Ideal Wiring A Single Pole Switch To A Light
Again excuse my paint covered hands.
Wiring a single pole switch to a light. Wiring a light switch is very simple. Bend the end into a loop using the wire strippers or needle nose pliers. Wire the new single pole switch.
The black hot wires are what get connected to the light switch. When the switch is in its upper position on the power line is connected to the switch line completing the circuit so the light is on. Inspect the end of each wire.
It should have about 1 2 inch of bare wire at the end and should be formed into a hook like loop. If the wire end is in poor condition trim off the bare end. When wiring a single pole switch it is only necessary to connect the black power side cable to the switch.
The white neutral wire and the ground connection are always on or always connected to the light even when it is turned off.
